Om Malik of GigaOm recently introduded a new website called Web Worker Daily.

This site is going to highlight the lifestyle, work habits and technology of the mobile web workforce or the Web Bedouin as they call it.

The lead writer is Jackson West and he seems to have a nice readable style. I will be keeping an eye on them to see how much they cover issues facing home office workers. However, if you find yourself outside of the home office a lot, you should check them out too.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

DotNetNuke 3.2 & 4.0 Released!

DotNetNuke 3.2 and 4.0 were released this week. DotNetNuke is an open source framework for creating and maintaining professional web applications on ASP.NET. It is also the power behind Home Office Blues. The new versions of DNN were released on the same day as Micrsoft's ASP.NET 2.0 launch.

What's the difference between the two? DNN 3.2 is an upgrade for DNN 3.1.1 which runs on ASP.NET 1.1. DNN 4.0 natively supports ASP.NET 2.0. Both versions will likely be developed in parallel for some time until there is a sea change migration to ASP.NET 2.0.

I am evaluating both versions to determine to which one I should upgrade. I am not in a big hurry to upgrade and will likely take my time before making the leap to either.

Just Announced: $100 for Google Referrals

Somebody's feeling the heat. Today, under presumed pressure from rising star Chitika, Google has changed the terms for their Adsense for Publishers and launched a new referral program complete with banners. (See sidebar on right)

Publishers may now add 1 Adsense referral banner and 1 Firefox referral banner in addition to the previously allowed number of ad boxes, link ads and search boxes on each page with content.

The payout for Adsense referrals is quite large: $100 to the referrer when the referred reaches their first $100 payout. For every Firefox referral, you may receive $1 if the referred is from a qualifying country and installs with the Google toolbar.

With Google ads being so ubiquitous these days, I am not sure where you are going to find web publishers that are not already aware or signed up. However, Google seems to think they are out there and they definitely want your help to find them.
